the mileage which will be included in the “sweat equity” and obtain a quote for a possible expansion of the fire hall. Many neighbors put in a lot of time for this fund raiser and if recorded will ensure that we will be eligible for more grant money. Please submit hours & mileage from 6/12 on, Thanks.

School House: A Historic Building Record has been submitted to the State Historical Preservation Office which they will evaluate. A letter was also sent to District 23 School Board describing BAA’s proposal which we hope will be discussed during the school boards August meeting. Please Sign the Petition!

Boat Parade: This parade was a great success with 26 boats joining in the fun. Dozens and dozens of residents lined their docks with much cheering and flag waving. Boosted by this wonderful enthusiasm next years parade will be bigger, with more decorations and promises to be quite an event.

This Monthly Newsletter will continue to be produced to keep everyone informed about BAA however we do need to charge $8.00 as an annual fee to cover paper, ink, envelopes and postage. If you would like to continue to receive Big Arm news via mail please provide us with both your summer and winter addresses. To receive the newsletters free please provide your email address or if local you will be able to obtain a copy from the General Store.

A Web Page: Thanks to a very kind offer by Tom Eddy the BAA will have a web page that everyone will be able to access. Tom will be working many hours on this project and we will let you know when it is up

and running. We would like some feed back on what information you would like to have on this web page. Please call. Tom a very special big thank you !

T-Shirts with the BAA logo of

the rising Flathead monster with Monstrous Motivation written above are available for $13.00. The proceeds from the sale will go to the running expenses of the association. We have men’s sizes M, L & XL and other sizes can be custom ordered. Aprons with  “monstrous fire protection” are available for $18.00. We are   also looking into a hat with the logo.

Photographs: we have a collage of the fund raiser photographs and will be available for a $1 each.  A Neighbor  has found a wonderful photograph of the old Big Arm Mercantile store we are taking orders for copies.

An invitation for Leaders: Tom & Bonnie Eddy and Kerry & Deborah Weidrich have joined the leadership and are heartily welcomed. We encourage more residents to participate to help the leadership to stay diversified and to be a true representation of the Big Arm community.

Calendar: it has been suggested to produce a calendar with local photographs, events, recipes, etc. If you have great ideas for this project or would like to help or provide photographs etc. please contact Jan 849-5636.

Press Coverage: The Daily Interlake printed a very nice summary of the Monstrous Fund Raiser. The West Shore news has recently interviewed the general leaders and that article will be in the next issue.

Rollins Fire Department Buffalo Grill is on July 30, 11:30 to 4:00 a wonderful food event!

A REALLY BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO THE WONDERFULLY TALENTED LADIES & GENTLEMEN WHO WILL BE SHARING THEIR SPECIAL GIFTS WITH US THIS EVENING.  Thank you Shamrockers, BigED, The Fiddlers, Tony Grant and Bob Klawitter. Thank you to the neighbors who mowed, put up tents, lent PA systems & trailers, made phone calls, provided food for the musicians or anything else that helped make this special evening for the community.  Treasury Report: The Balance in the fund as of 7/21/06 - $29,181.42

Monstrous Fund Raiser: Bake Sale $655.00; Clothing Boutique $422.90; Silent Auction $595.00; Yard Sale $ 2056.89; Live Auction   $5734.50; Hamburger Fry $1,621.17. Monstrous Fund Raiser proceeds after expenses (some bills not received) should be approx. $10600.00. WELL DONE FOLKS.

Ross Hoyt on behalf of the Big Arm Firefighters has requested that the net proceeds of the hamburger fry $1621.17 be deposited in the Polson Rural Fire Departments checking account to be used at the discretion of the Big Arm Firefighters. Running Expenses for the Fire Hall are being paid by the Rural Fire district. The BAA general leaders would like to contribute to these costs by paying $20 per BAA meeting. These two requests will be voted on by the residents in attendance of July 24 Picnic general meeting.

Lease: Mary Driscoll is working on obtaining all the different levels of approval and at present we are told the lease is in the legal department. The land has been reviewed by a Survey Co. and easements for the water line are in process. Tribal Councilman Steve Lozar is also helping to expedite the process.
