SAVE THE SCHOOL HOUSE

The tentative suggestion to save the School is for the School Board to swap their piece of property with a Public Reserve lot in the same town site. The historic school would be then dedicated as the new Public Reserve and the School Board would own land without any historic value. This would enable the school house to be renovated and the land kept for public use and preserved for future generations. The Commissioners have indicated that they would be in favor of this solution and we are assured by the County Attorney that it would be legally viable. Ross Hoyt, Chairman of the Historic School House Committee, will call a meeting to plan a petition drive possibly at polling places this November and also at stores. PLEASE HELP US TO SAVE THIS WONDERFUL SCHOOL sign up to help man one of the petition tables, or write letters to the newspapers. We need your ideas and help!

Leaving Big Arm is Stewart Rhodes and his family, fortunately he is only moving to Polson. We wish him much happiness in their new home and hope they will stay in touch. Stewart will continue his interest in the School House Project.

Please let us know when someone leaves or arrives, thanks!

Wonderful news, after months of planning Charlie was able to go ahead and has spent many hours this past couple of weeks installing both water and septic. Thank you Charlie this couldn’t have happened without you!  The Tribal housing, lands, and preservation departments fully cooperated with all our needs and we are very grateful to them for allowing us to lease their land and use their water. Thank You!

Jim Brandenburg has kindly volunteered to update and complete all the electrical needs after which we can finish the sheetrock, insulate, paint, install and hook up the toilets and sinks.
