GARBAGE IS GONE THANKS TO 28 WONDERFUL NEIGHBORS WHO  WORKED IN THE RAIN & COLD LAST SATURDAY……….THANK YOU!!

was helping Kelly Bishop to do  the communication work but now she will become the Grant coordinator collecting all necessary data for the sweat equity. As of 8/31/06 the BAA has 4,257 sweat equity hours! Please keep a record of time spent for the BAA and forward to Deb, thanks.

Telephone Tree: we have lost a couple of callers due to the winter season and sickness so we need two more neighbors to help us out. Approx. 12 calls once a month to inform residents of our special events. PLEASE HELP, THANKS!

Shut Ins: if any of your neighbors do not like driving at night or are unable to drive but would like to come to our meetings please let us know we will arrange to pick them up.

T-Shirts are still available for sale $13.00 and we will be taking orders for sweatshirts which will have a smaller logo on it.

Halloween: the leaders thought it would be fun to have an OLD FASHIONED VILLAGE special for the local kids on the weekend before Halloween. We have had some ideas, a haunted house would be wonderful but there is probably not enough time to organize this; parents have suggested games, prizes for costumes, candy etc. WE NEED HELP ORGANIZING PLEASE SIGN UP it should be a lot of fun. We also need offers for PRIZES,CANDY & DECORATIONS, THANKS.

After the children’s 2 hours of fun we will have a potluck supper for everyone, costumes will be optional for the adults.

Operational Expenses: We are thinking of ways to raise funds for our operational expenses so we can do special events for the kids, gifts for the sick, maybe a Christmas party,  pay for office

expenses, buy tables and chairs, a PA system. Etc. Suggestions have been to sell advertising space on our web page at a cost of $25 per year; a Thanksgiving bake sale;  add advertisements, for sale & want ads.  to our newsletter. We would love to hear you ideas!!

Treasury Report: The fund balance as of 9/18/06 is $27,606.08. Bills to be paid are rental toilet, stamps, liability insurance and office supplies.

Newsletter More Fun: We would like to profile an interesting   neighbor, their history, a special achievement, a funny incident…..anything, please call us!

Special Achievement: In the recent Kalispell Parade of Homes Jeff Meslin of J & A Fine Woodworkers won the award for Best Kitchen….congratulations!

Annexation: Residents of section 30 including the north end of Meadowlark Lane petitioned the Commissioners to be in the Polson Rural Fire District instead of Chief Cliff Fire Service. During the 9/14 hearing the Commissioners denied the petition because of closer proximity to Elmo and no difference in communications even though  over 50% of the residents had requested this change. I am sure all of those residents really appreciate Jan Phillip’s hard work on this petition. Please direct any information or questions to her, thanks.

A New Tender Truck will be coming to the Big Arm Fire station (PRFD station #2) early in the new year. This vehicle is being purchased by your tax dollars  with the district’s new mill levy.

Congratulations to Jan & Jim, Phillips on the arrival this weekend of their new grandson Justin.

Why Not Visit the Bison Range this fall  & listen to the Elk. Hrs 6:30 am-6:00 pm. We hope everyone is able to enjoy nature’s wonders this fall. Stay warm & well!

Big Arm needs more firefighters please consider volunteering, thanks!

Another cold & rainy day was selected for the second garbage collection from six miles of road through Big Arm. 24 brave souls  wearing waterproof clothing spent Saturday morning keeping Big Arm beautiful  and did it without complaint. 4 more went out Sunday to complete the last stretch. On behalf of the community we whole heartedly thank these special people…...Marsha & Vince Rubino, Deb Weidrich, Kristin Osborn, Lester Johnson, Tom & Bonnie Eddy, Jan & Jim Phillips, Alison Meslin, Nita Parks, Linda Althouse, Wayne Engbretson, Tam & Sally Frey, Heidi & Katharina Medland, Paul & Karen Maurer, Dave Waterman, Earl Holland, Tim & Cindy Beebe, Tim & Joyce Bruner, Ron & Marilyn Roberts, and  Bill Sargent……….THANK YOU!

The August Potluck was most enjoyable with 55 residents bringing really delicious food and mouth watering desserts. Next potluck will be Saturday October 28.

The Tribal Land Lease is finally in our hands and secure for the next 25 years with plenty of room to install the septic system.

The Septic System unfortunately did not start on 9/15. Charlie of In Sink Plumbing had some last minute business to attend to and Jeff Meslin’s backhoe had some serious hydraulic leaks. We are hiring Brian Zimmerman to do the backhoe work, he has promised to start this week.

The Newsletter will be sent every month to subscribers ($8 per year),  those who have given an  e-mail address, it will be included on www.BigArmAssociation.org, our new web page,  posted on the Post Office notice board, or picked up at the General Store. A special thank you to Rosanne, the Post Mistress, and friends at the General Store for their support and help.
